8 DAY STUDY ABROAD
Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
Sustainable Tanzania is an applied field immersion that examines how four critical stakeholders—government policy and national park management, commercial tourism enterprises, research institutions, and local tribal communities—interact to shape one of Africa’s most important conservation and tourism ecosystems. Through direct engagement with government bodies responsible for national parks and policy frameworks, private-sector tourism operators, research institutions such as TAWIRI, and the Maasai community, participants gain first-hand insight into how sustainability is negotiated, implemented, and financed on the ground. The program emphasizes systems thinking, stakeholder alignment, and trade-offs between economic growth, conservation outcomes, and community livelihoods, offering a real-world case study of how sustainable tourism functions as both a business model and a national development strategy.
